Mathura is about 950 km from Ahmedabad, which is about 15 to 17 hours by car. We can arrange a private AC cab from Ahmedabad or meet you at Mathura Junction if you take a train.
One full day covers the main Mathura and Vrindavan temples. Two to three days is more relaxed and adds Gokul, Barsana, Nandgaon and Govardhan. Take 4 to 5 days if you want Agra, Ayodhya or Haridwar in the same trip. Because Ahmedabad is far from Mathura, count the travel days too and choose at least 3 days on the ground.
October to March is the most comfortable for sightseeing. Janmashtami, Holi and Radhashtami are the biggest festivals and the most special, but temples are very crowded and hotels fill early, so book 1 to 2 months ahead. Summer afternoons are very hot.
Most temples open in the early morning, close in the afternoon and reopen in the evening, and the exact timings change with the season. Banke Bihari and ISKCON are best visited early to avoid crowds. Our guide plans your route around the timings on your travel date.
Krishna Janmabhoomi in Mathura does not allow mobile phones, cameras, bags or electronics inside, and lockers are available outside. Banke Bihari is very crowded, so carry only essentials, keep valuables with you and avoid heavy jewellery.
